Audible: Send This Book & Returns

One of my favorite uses for Echo is listening to Audible audiobooks, partly because it’s so convenient: no need to download the book first, just ask Alexa to “read [book title]” and you’re off to the races! Now, Audible members can share that great audiobook experience with anyone they like via the new, FREE Audible Send This Book program.

Send This Book
With this new service, Audible members can send free copies of any book in their Audible library to anyone with an email address. There’s a limit: you can only send one audiobook to each contact, but you can send as many free copies of the same audiobook to different contacts as you like.

Note that the recipient gets to keep the audiobook, this is not a lending program and there’s no time limit for the recipient to finish listening to the book. If you’re not an Audible member but know someone who is, tell them about this program and ask them to send you a free book!

From Audible:

Send this Book is a feature that allows you to give the experience of a great listen to the people in your life.
Send this Book allows you to send the audiobooks in your library to friends and family. It is free for you to send. And if it is your recipient’s first time accepting an audiobook through this feature, it will be free for her/him. Members and non-members can redeem titles and once redeemed, can send that book to others using Send this Book.

Simply tap Send this Book from your library or app, choose the method to send the title and enter the recipients’ information.

Do you need an Audible membership to redeem a book?
No! Anyone (members and non-members) can receive an audiobook. The only requirement is that you must have an existing account or create one in order to redeem the audiobook. If you do not already have an account, you will be prompted to create one to continue with the redemption process.

Here are the steps Audible members can follow to send a book under the Send This Book program:

1. Login to the Audible site or app.

2. Click or tap the Library link and locate the book from your library that you wish to send.

3. Click or tap the Send This Book link (see below, tap or click on image to view an enlarged version in a new tab or window) and follow the prompts to send a free copy of the book.

Audible Book Returns: It’s A Thing!
One of the benefits Audible members enjoy is Audible’s Great Listen Guarantee, which allows members to return any Audible title purchased within the past 12 months for a full refund, whether that book was purchased with a member credit or some other form of payment. This is a great member benefit because audiobooks aren’t cheap, and it’s always a drag when one is disappointing.

From Audible:

The Great Listen Guarantee is a membership benefit to Audible credit plan members that allows you the ability to return audiobooks you are unsatisfied with for any reason. Members can return audiobooks using the online return tool – as long as the audiobook(s) was purchased within the past 12 months.

With your Great Listen Guarantee benefit, you can return your audiobooks online with ease. You can make returns from the Audio Purchase History page on the Audible desktop site. For the full instructions on how to return a title, please follow these steps:

Note: You can only return audiobooks online from the Audible desktop site.

1. Go to your Account Details page on the Audible desktop site.

2. Click Make returns and view past orders towards the bottom of the page.

3. Locate the order that contains the audiobook you wish to return.

4. Click Return.
